A recent incident where Japan and the Philippines redrew the sea border, covering Taiwan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) without informing Taiwanese authorities. When a reporter asked Lai about this incident, he walked away, and when the reporter turned to Lai's spokeswoman for a response, it was unclear what she said.
On June 9, the Chinese conducted a routine patrol in the newly redrawn border waters and encountered a Japanese patrol vessel. After challenging each other regarding the disputed patrol areas, the Japanese vessel left, and now a Taiwanese patrol vessel has come to ask the Chinese patrol vessel to leave. The ratio of displacement of the Chinese vessel to Taiwan is 10 times because the Chinese vessel is from an army downgraded frigate transferred to them and used as patrol guard vessel about 5 tonne.
The incident reflects that the Taiwanese patrol vessel does not dare to confront the Japanese but only engages with the Chinese, which is quite shameful for Taiwan.
It like the the mommy cow(Taiwan) looks helpless on its baby cow(Japanese) but dares to challenge the rescuer(Chinese).
