新华网北京１２月２９日电（记者郝亚琳、王慧慧）中国外交部发言人姜瑜２９日表示，中方对英方有关英国毒贩在华被处死刑一事的无端指责表示强烈不满和坚决反对，我们敦促英方尊重中国的司法主权，并立即纠正错误，避免对双边关系造成损害。

在当日下午举行的例行记者会上，有记者问，英国首相布朗发表声明，对英国人阿克毛被处决表示“震惊”和“失望”，中方对此有何评论。阿克毛因走私毒品于２９日在新疆乌鲁木齐市被执行死刑。

姜瑜说，英国公民阿克毛在中国贩毒被判处死刑，是一起孤立的刑事案件。中国是法制国家，司法机关严格依法办事，中国的司法独立性不容外来干预，任何人都无权对中国司法主权说三道四。在此案审理过程中，阿克毛的诉讼权利和各种待遇都得到了应有的保障。

她同时表示，毒品犯罪是世界公认的严重罪行，社会危害极其严重，各国都依法严厉打击，打击毒品犯罪是全世界人民的共同心声。

There's no right or wrong answer as far as the death penalty is concerned.

Putting aside the politics and human rights debate (which will never end), the death penalty is the most extreme and rightly reserved for the most heinous crimes. It's a question of interpretation as to whether the Brit deserves it. The whole world knows who will cry the loudest whenever China is involved. It is a fallacy that the Western world is trying very hard to portray! That China is a barbaric nation unschooled in human rights and just about executing every criminal in sight! Long time ago, China already had Justice Pao to mete out justice. To me, it's all fair and square!
