A man convicted of killing Sydney heart surgeon Victor Chang is on a flight back to Malaysia.

Dr Chang was gunned down on a footpath at Mosman in Sydney's north in a failed extortion attempt in 1991.

One of the two men convicted over the death, Phillip Choon Tee Lim, was due for release in November after serving an 18-year minimum sentence.

But after a submission from the New South Wales Government, the Parole Authority ruled he should stay in jail for another year because he would not have to serve the conditions of his parole once he returned to Malaysia.

The Supreme Court on Monday quashed the decision.

Lim was released from Parramatta jail and taken to Sydney Airport to prepare for his deportation.

It is understood the 50-year-old was deported on a flight that left for Kuala Lumpur about 9:25pm (AEDT).

That Victor Chang was not an angel either. Maybe he roasted in HELL already. His non surgeon's small head took over and his surgeon/s big head went along and that was his biggest mistake.

He played people's wife and that was the reason he was blackmailed or was he ?

IMHO, he was just marked for death and that blackmailing charge was thrown in for dramatisation.

Ask yourself, if you were a top surgeon without blemishes or a libido on steroid, who would wanted him death without some major transgressions in the underworld. The power of the MSM painted him as an angel and you have to ask yourselves why an angel had to die that way ?

A Malaysian convicted of killing Australian heart surgeon Victor Chang in 1991 arrived at KL International Airport at 9.05pm last night.

Phillip Lim Choon Tee, 50, was released from Parramatta prison on Monday after spending 18 years in jail for killing Chang on Juy 4, 1991.

He arrived on Malaysia Airline flight MH0122 from Sydney and was then whisked away by immigration officers and left two hours later at 11.15pm via the airport staff lane.

A spokesman for Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad confirmed this to reporters waiting at the arrival hall.
