PETALING JAYA - A mistakenly keyed-in set of numbers turned out to be the best thing to have happened in a retiree's life he won RM41mil (S$16.4 mil).
The retiree from Selangor, who won the biggest ever Power Toto 6/55 Jackpot, said he originally intended to use the numbers from his handphone numbers.
However, one of the numbers was not his but came from a Toto customer service assistant who mistakenly keyed in a different number.
He decided not to make a fuss when he noticed the mistake, believing it to be a blessing in disguise. The winning numbers were 11, 12, 19, 22, 28 and 39.
The man said he was dizzy with joy when he saw the results in a local daily on Sunday.
He said the jackpot may not have a big impact on his personal life, but it would be a great help to his children and family members.
"This jackpot is going to be a lovely gift for me and my wife as we will be celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, which we have been planning for months," he said.
The retiree said he always liked to "build castles in the air" and had thought up of ways to help charities close to his heart.
On Aug 18, two others also won, a businessman from Selangor taking RM4.2mil and a transport worker winning RM2.5mil.
The businessman felt the win was timely as he and his wife were expecting another baby, while the transport worker said he would buy his family a bigger house with the winnings.
Just days earlier on Aug 15, a healthcare professional from Johor won RM9.3mil through the Toto 4D Jackpot 1.
He said his winning pair of 4D numbers 3131 and 1821 was a combination of years and birth dates plus ages of family members.
