Taxi driver robs female student, shoves her into drain

HULU SELANGOR: A female foreign student suffered a broken back bone when she was robbed and shoved out from a taxi in Bukit Sentosa, here today.

The incident is believed to have happened during the wee hours when she took a cab to return home from an entertainment outlet in Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.

Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent R. Supramaniam said the victim, believed to be drunk, was found lying inside a drain at Jalan Jenjarum 1C, Bukit Beruntung about 9.30am.

He said the cab driver took the victim's handbag which contained RM100 and her mobile phone before pushing her out from the vehicle at the scene.

"The victim said she tried to run after the taxi, but failed as the driver had sped off.

"Suddenly, the taxi returned to location and the driver shoved her into a drain," he said.

The victim was helped by members of the public, who notified police and the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital.

An ambulance then took her to the hospital, where checks revealed that she sustained a broken spine.

Taxi numbers could be forged. Just uber or grab taxis. They have records of cars and driver. Safer that way.

So she took the taxi in KL and was driven 50 km away.

KL cabbie robs, shoves drunk woman into drain

PETALING JAYA — A foreigner broke her back and was left in a drain for about three hours after she was robbed by a taxi driver at Bukit Beruntung, Selangor, on Wednesday (July 20).

The 23-year-old victim, only known as Tatyana, had hailed a cab near Traders Hotel in Kuala Lumpur as she wanted to return to her home in the city.

She was instead driven more than 50km from the city centre and was robbed of her mobile phone and RM100 (S$34) in cash.

Hulu Selangor police chief Supt R Supramaniam said the victim, who was believed to be drunk, claimed the suspect had grabbed her handbag and pushed her out of the vehicle before he drove away.

She tried chasing the vehicle only for the driver to return. He pushed her into a drain near Jalan Jenjarum and left her there.
