Steve Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at a very stage. A similar state that Andy Grove of Intel was in. Andy Grove proceeded with surgery and treatment. Steve who became a vegan in his teens proceeded initially with his vegan diet with a focus on juicing carrots and those fruits and vegetables are associated with properties that fights cancer.

Andy survived after the first round.

Steve's wife and and son who were Vegans switched to normal diet when Steve had to undergo liver transplant to save his life. Steve was also notorious for flushing his system every now and then to detoxify his body. Something he did from his teen years.

Placebo is a wonderful element in our life. It just pips religion to the finishing post.

Healthy living is eating in moderation.

Food for though.

Screw Ball, I agree with you, eat in moderation.

The chump, who is selling the idea the vegans do not fell ill or will never get cancer, needs to get his brains (if any) checked.

The guy who is always endorsing him should also get his twitching eye checked.

I have not came across a single vegan that lived long enough. I mentioned the story about a lady who only ate fish and vegetables and she died in her early 40s. And she looked herself health wise. Scared the shit out of me.

There has to be reason why we are on top of the food chain and we are not knowledgeable enough to know what our body needs. When you see people living longer, you realise that it a questions of picking the right stuff and in moderation and no be highly selective and leaving out things that are necessary because of a fad.

I am with on this.

I learnt something from a medical doctor friend a long time ago. He told me except for quite a number who like to wear bow tie for convenience (to avoid the tie hitting the patient as they are examined) and certain style, he told me it will rare to find a vegan doctor. He also told me that you you will never catch one juicing because it means that he did not complete his nutrition component of his study.

Nature intended us to eat fruits whole, and not simply drink their juice.

Fruit juices contains lots of fructose, which I consider a toxin since it can only be metabolized by the liver. I believe excessive consumption of fructose damages the liver, gallbladder and pancreas system.

I juice thrice a week but strictly for celery and green leafy vegetable like spinach and parsley. No juiced or even blended fruits. This is in addition to normal intake of whole fruits and cooked vegetables.

I used to juice carrot for quite awhile and then added on fruits. Such as apple and oranges. No particular reason but it did feel good. I eat a lot more veggies now than I did before and when I have the urge usually try the Buddhist version of cooked veggies.

I guess life is a mystery.

the worst juicier is the PAP. they can even squeeze blood out of stone.

Juicing: Healthy detox or diet trap?

You can't juice all day every day and expect to stay healthy, experts say.
You can't juice all day every day and expect to stay healthy, experts say.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
Juicing is a good way to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet
It will not help you detox -- that's what your organs are for
Going on an all-juice diet will likely lead to more weight gain later
(CNN) -- Juicing -- if you believe its avid fans -- is a great way to detox the body, prevent disease and lose weight.
There's something appealing about being able to blend up broccoli, kale and cucumbers and mask them with the sweet taste of strawberries. You get your vitamins without having to chow down on salad every day at lunch.
Plus you can tell everyone you're juicing, which helps you look cool in today's fitness-focused world.
But (you knew there was a "but" coming), you can't juice all day, every day, and expect to stay healthy. We took to the experts to answer your most pressing juice questions:
What are some of the benefits of juicing?
New research shows eating up to seven servings of fruits and vegetables a day can have a significant impact on your lifespan. For those of us who don't have time to cut up or cook two servings with every meal, juicing is an easy way to consume them on the go.

We love to hear from our audience. Follow @CNNHealth on Twitter and Facebook for the latest health news and let us know what we're missing.

"Many people don't really like to eat fruits and vegetables, and this gives them a way to feel like they are doing something good for themselves," says Gayl Canfield, director of nutrition for Pritkin Longevity Center.
Juicing provides all the same vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients as eating whole fruits and vegetables, Canfield says. And the water content can help you stay hydrated.
Juicing is also a good way to use up any about-to-spoil produce, which means you're doing your part to stop food waste.
Juicing is low-calorie, right?
Not exactly. While juicing is probably low-calorie compared to a cheeseburger and fries, it's a very concentrated source of calories.
A cup of pineapple, for instance, is about 83 calories, but a cup of pineapple juice is 120 calories. An 8-ounce glass of orange juice may contain as many as four medium oranges, Canfield says.
"Would a person actually sit down and eat four oranges in one sitting?" she asks. "But you can down that glass of orange juice in fewer than 5 minutes."
And because the fruit is more concentrated, so is the sugar content.
A cup of pomegranate juice contains 37 grams of sugar, compared to just 12 grams in a cup of whole pomegranate.
Consuming your food in liquid form may also leave you feeling less fulfilled, meaning you'll eat more calories than you would if you simply chewed the food, says Jennifer Nelson, director of clinical dietetics and nutrition at the Mayo Clinic.
Will it help me detox?
First, let's start with why you think your body needs to detox. Your organs -- particularly the liver and kidneys -- and your immune system already work hard to rid your body of toxins.
"There is nothing in the medical literature to affirm that the body needs an outside source to cleanse itself," says registered dietician Deborah Levy.
Still, some people say juicing helps them transition to healthier habits. It's worth a shot -- of juice that is.
For clients who insist on doing a cleanse, Levy recommends they limit it to three days.
Can I go on an all-juice diet?
You can, but it's not a good idea.
"You want your diet to be balanced and healthy and to include protein, dairy, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and fats," Nelson says. "Some foods don't juice properly -- like fish or whole wheat bread."
We'll let you think about that yummy concoction for a minute.
When you juice fruits and vegetables, you're "mechanically pulverizing," them, Nelson says. Doing so separates the fiber from the juice. This fiber helps regulate your blood sugar levels after you eat a piece of whole fruit. Without fiber, the sugar in juice goes unchecked.
"The wonderful health effects of fiber -- satiety value, gastrointestinal regulation, (bad) cholesterol lowering and blood glucose regulations are missing in the juice," Canfield says.
Although going on a liquid diet might help you lose weight in the short term, it can seriously mess with your metabolism. And lean muscle mass starts to break down after just a few days -- meaning your body will burn fewer calories overall.
"Very few people will ever voluntarily consume a liquid diet for life," Nelson says, and the pounds will quickly pile back on once you re-introduce solid foods.
So what's the bottom line?
Juicing in moderation can help you consume essentials nutrients, but it's not a good way to detox or diet. Orange you glad you asked?

Thanks to joety who intro juicing here in the forum and his share of his merit of juicing,

i have been juicing for the past 2 months and my friends said that my face look very much healthier than before . I look fresh and full of vitality with rosy cheeks.

Placebo deals with current life! Religion deals with after life!

Vegans have strong BO! Ask TONY CHAT!

Herre is simple approach to having at least one decent meal each day preferably dinner and you feel real good. You can feel the difference. after a weak.

1) Buy the best jasmine rice form Thailand that you can afford. Have just one medium bowl of steamed rice.
2) One leafy vegetable cooked vegetable dish ( does not matter which dialect style)
3) One beans vegetable with or without tofu
4) One meat dish chicken, pork or fish Steamed, sautéed, boiled, stir fired but not deep fried.
5) One soup.

Just do different style for each of the 4 dishes. Must end with plain Chinese tea. The tea acts as palate cleanser so you are not tempted to indulge in snacks or dessert to balance the taste of the meal in the mouth.

If you into sports, then increase the portion of rice and meat intake.

Ah i see so it was steve jobs lifestyle that led to his cancer and death. I see good analysis there.

Nice advice there eating in moderation because i suppose ppl are stuffing themselves or starving themselves or juicing themselves to the gills.

There are 2 main advantages of juicing

1. To consume the good stuff in the seeds eg pogramanate
2. For aged who has reached a stage where he cannot digest solid food effectively.

For me, juicing vegetable is out. I only juice hard stuff like carrot, pumpkin, guava (the seed) because my digestive system is no longer efficient. I think certain vegetable like celery, beetroot need to be taken in very small dose. Vege that contains substances that dilute the blood improves circulation but it can also cause hemorrhage if you have bad blood vessels like mine and drink too much such juice.

If that are the 2 reasons you have for juicing, may I suggest blending instead. The pulp is full of goodness and its pity to throw it away which the juicing process does. The pulp adds bulk and provides valuable roughage.

You can't juice seeds, rinds, etc, where the water content is minimal. Only the PAP can juice anything, as someone else already pointed out.
