countries like Solomon islands just want money and other resources. China can help and give them significant aid. USA and Australia don't want to aid them much but expect them to stay on their side in their conflict against China. wishful thinking.

But if you happen to be a country very near the Solomon Islands, and assume that PRC and the Solomon Islands have agreed to allow the PRC to establish a military base there, there would be cause for concern.

Why fret about things you have no control over? Especially the actions of a foreign state. Let it be.
If u r specifically worried about that threat it poses to democracies like Australia, I can understand the concern but I'd say they had it coming. A response has to come from another Great Power.
