The test failure resulted in an explosion on September 29, 2025, at the Firefly Aerospace test facility in Briggs, Texas. The incident was a setback for the company's Alpha rocket, which was intended to launch a tactical satellite for Lockheed Martin into Low Earth Orbit. This would have been the second mission under a multi-launch agreement between Firefly and Lockheed Martin, with a total of up to 25 launches planned.
