As the World Economic Forum (WEF) gets under way in Davos, BBC News looks at some of the key numbers and figures associated with the event.

I've known a few ultra-wealthy businessmen who have paid the high priced ticket to attend the WEF event in previous years. They were non-invited guests because they were not Heads of States or CEOs of Fortune Global 500 companies. They attended for the prestige (bragging rights) and networking opportunities. It's those non-VIP attendees, who paid the high priced tickets, which are indirectly paying for the invited VIPs to attend for free.

It's really no big deal to attend the WEF at Davos as any non-invited guest who is willing to pay the US$27,000 ticket can attend. This year's event will host about 2,500 attendees which is a lot of people.

In a typical event hosted by American Express for its Centurion Cardholders (Black Cardholders) in Singapore, we have about 100 attendees, which is way more exclusive than the WEF attended by 2,500 people at Davos. Moreover, only invited Centurion card members, high ranking AmEx staff, and guest of honors are allowed to attend the event for free as no uninvited outsiders can buy tickets to attend the event.
