Lots on conspiracy theories out there lah. Firstly, why would a Chinese company kill someone. This is not some cold war spy thing. In commercial world, you headhunt talent, blindly copy, pay people for the technology but why kill. Much better to set up operations in US, and then legally headhunt the talent. You undertable give someone $1M and that is bribery. Why not just openly pay the guy the $1M in salary and options. That is fully legal. So killing this guy will not give you more access to info.

Furthermore any real R&D work of significance would not be in Singapore. Now if it were some love affair murder, maybe.

Agree.

The US never gives out any sensitive recipes to anyone or any foreign corporation to R&D especially groundbreaking stuff. This is probably one junior exec sent over and placed in a hot seat job and simply lost his head due to the job stress or foreign culture(the all rice and no bread or in some cases no mummy to hang onto :( ) suddenly put on him. Not all expat jobs are cushy and some are with pretty high responsibilities. And I have seen quite a few ang mos literally go nuts after the "honeymoon" period of coming to Asia wears off and the real responsibilities and the real world kicks in. I think this is the same issue.

Of course, his family will not accept that he lost his marbles and hanged himself. And any good US politician will love to take the bat to hammer China right now on any reason to divert attention from their own problems.

the family, especially mother, will not give up until they get a satisfactory answer especially with the sloppiness of the sg police in not thoroughly and methodically combing the scene, whether it was suicide or otherwise. this blew up mainly because the patents got hold of the hard disk which looked like a speaker that was still left standing on the desk. upon examination and forensics on contents in the hard disk, the expert whom they hired uncovered trail of information leading to huawei and the ime project. that discovery puts the onus on the sg police and not on the parents. the evidence collaborated the parents' late correspondences with their son who was disturbed by the project and their worries about him. with the evidence on the disk, they are not gonna let go. it's understandable. now the sg police wants the disk, which they could have easily gotten if they were not so sloppy. without the disk, they will not cooperate with the fbi. however, i think that with the disk, they will feign cooperation with the fbi. the non-cooperation excuse is just a cover to mask the embarassment. nonetheless, u.s. agencies are not that stupid. behind the scenes, agents from other agencies not beholden to the fbi are already busy at work, trying to uncover whether more sinkie r&d outfits are becoming conduits for the prc "stealing" of american sensitive technology.

shane's parents care 100% about their son's tragic demise. u.s. intell agencies care 100% about alleged sinkie state-sponsored pimping of u.s. sensitive tech to china for both industrial and military applications. the new secstate, kerry, new secdef hagel, and new cia director brennan are no pushovers, and they will dig deep. very unfortunate for sinkie police to blow this up due to carelessness. it's now out of shane's parents' hands. every fucking sinkie outfit is now under scrutiny, and has been for some time. we're watching you.

The pappies must be scared shitless. Had it been some other third world country or a random Sinkie, they would not have cared much.

This time, it's from Big Brother Bee Kok, and it has attracted the attention of the international media and major American politicians.

Sadly a lot of Americans still believe our fucking gahmen is as clean as white linen judging by the comments from many overseas forums. Hopefully the foreign media can expose this country as a mini-China where the gahmen completely controls ALL aspects of the economy and run things according to their warped and twisted laws.
