UOB got no FT in Senior Management!!

Of all the companies you had to pick UOB. UOB is run by the Wee family and the directors and Sr Management have very little say. They also never had a non chinese singaporean in middle and Sr Mgmt since they began business umpteen decades ago.

Even OUB, OCBC had non Chinese Singaporeans in the past.

Nevertheless Wee Cho Yaw and his father (old man who founded the bank) have delivered good results in the past. They are however notoriously bad paymasters so don't have the best brains. They success is due to conservatism, ties with traditional trading houses and old man's link to many public listed companies in Singapore. He had acquired stakes in so many many companies short of taking over that they are scared of him. OCBC Lee family have little interest in running the bank, DBS stumbles from one crisis to another, so UOB just sails thru with better acumen.

Ok old man bad pay master and convservative.

But is doing better than DBS and OCBC with no FTs.

So, it proves a point that Singaporeans are as good if not better!!

Thats what I said, look at the 1st sentence of of the last para. This FT bullshit is just getting out of shape. Even the Gulf countries are doing remarkably well and its the locals that are holding key positions. And the locals have no issue with housing.

Agree with you 100%.

Bank with UOB....must support this TRULY LOCAL BANK.

They do not have FTs to suka suka play with your money by parking the monies with their angmo or ah nei buddies worldwide.

In fact, UOB has VERY STRONG CONNECTIONS with the PRC govt.

And the Chinks will call UOB a TRULY LOCAL BANK. They only have issues with banks that hire Ah Neh, Singaporean or otherwise does not matter.

Mr Francis Lee Chin Yong
Senior Executive Vice President
Personal Financial Services & International

Mr Lee joined UOB in 1980. He has served as CEO of United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) prior to his appointment in Singapore in 2003. He holds a Malaysia Certificate of Education. Mr Lee has held senior positions in operations, consumer services and corporate banking in UOB.

Who says you need education to suceed?

Francis Lee has only MCE (Malaysia Certificate of Education) or 'O' Levels.

With only 'O' Levels, he can be an executive of a top company in Singapore.

Not just an executive, not just Vice President but Senior Executive Vice President.

This man is very successful in his career

UOB is my fav bank, pleasant dark blue corporate color too. ATM queues always shorter than DBArse too. No SHITTY-Bank either (full of ah nehs!).

Yeap me too. I stop using DBS (POSB acutally) long time ago. Their ATM super long queue.

Many Singaporeans complaint about long queue at DBS ATMs, some even write to the press to complain... but they still continue to bank with DBS....

Cannot fathom!!

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Wee Cho Yaw is indeed a brillant banker!

But we should not forget his cosy relationship with MM Lee, when he was having a tough fight with old dog, Jack Chia(decreased-ex-MPH fame)Lau Lee supported him all the way.
MM Lee has contributed in many ways to the growth of UOB.
As we all know well,MM Lee does not do anything for nothing!not once in his entire life

So in return,Wee Cho Yaw threw has consideriable influence within the Chinese community solidly behind PAP aka MM Lee,until one day:

When MM Lee wake up on that raining cold day,he decided there and then that Spore could have only two banks, and UOB was not one of the two.as he reckoned that he would be the great banker on earth on that cold raining day.FATEL!

Wee Cho Yaw doe not believe that MM Lee is a better banker than himself.

Then the story goes,in fact,Wee and Wee went to the extent of calling those who think only two banks enough in Spore stupid, and declared that those who worship Ang Moh bankers were very stupid

Hahaha

Easy - just check the banks how many percent of stake Temasek have in it and you see how high percent of FT there. Or rather how much termasek is controlling it. Or HC controlling it or the highest food chain LKY.

privatise the GLCs. Then put them under termasek. Then control thru it.

66% dun see it. Do you?
