University offers zombie course

Students at the University of Baltimore can now learn all about zombies.​

Students at the University of Baltimore can now study the undead. Well, kind of. Zombies are now the subject of a new English course at the American university. The new class will examine the monsters' expanding grip on pop culture. The professor, Arnold Blumberg, said students will get to watch 16 classic zombie films, read zombie comics, and have the chance to write a script or storyboard for their very own zombie movie.

Jonathan Shorr, chairman of the university's school of communications design, wanted a rotation of "interesting, off-the-wall" courses for a new minor in pop culture, reported The Baltimore Sun. Shorr says the zombie course will be a "back door into a lot of subjects", where students can learn about how literature and mass media work, and "how they come to reflect our times."
