A STUDENT who achieved 4 A*s at A Level decided to drop out of university to chase his poker-playing dream.
After depositing just £10 into an online gaming account, Charlie Carrel, 22, has managed to rake in over £1.5 million over the past two years.
Modest Charlie admits that initially he “got lucky”, managing to triple his £10 bet.
He explains: “Had I not won that first tournament I would never have deposited again, and none of this would have happened."
Savvy Charlie grew up in a low-income household and didn’t want to lose his livelihood on gambling, so he only used his winnings to re-invest into more games.
It was when Charlie managed to turn small bets into £1,000 worth of winnings that he decided to quit university and hone is poker talent.
Two years on, he is now playing live games around the world, from Malta to Las Vegas.
His biggest win to date was when he netted £806,000 at the EPT High-Roller Grand Final event in Monte Carlo.
The poker genius has been invited to numerous VIP events and lavish parties in cities such as Miami and Amsterdam.
After winning £133,000 on the Sunday Millions, generous Charlie treated 15 of his friends to an all-expenses paid trip to a five-star luxury hotel in Amsterdam.
He said: "I have to pinch myself most days. I think about depositing that £10 a lot. It could easily have happened so differently for me.
"I think I have the potential to be one of the top players in the world. There are not too many people I would be worried about playing."
