Many parents are still spending millions on their children’s education. They often empty their nest eggs just to get their children a place in the best university, locally or foreign. This was a good thing in the past when such a degree will guarantee a good career and a good return on their investments.

The reality today is very different. A good education is not only a financially depleting enterprise, it can be very depressing and even suicidal to some when the good jobs did not come along with the degree but an outstanding debt for the parents and a child feeling so indebted and guilty to their parents. The simple equation of pay for a good education and ending with a good and rewarding job is not working anymore. There are many depressing and heartbreaking stories of jobless graduates or graduates ended up as waiters, temp staff, taxi drivers and even security guards. What is the point of an education, a very expensive one, when the end is a broken dream and joblessness?

Uni education has become money spinning industry worth $Bil and getting corrupt taking weak HSC results students.

Australia students with a 65% HSC UAI grade can get into uni, private ones. These unis are churning out worthless and useless courses which has no demand in the industry. These 65%ers should be going to TAFE/ Poly instead of a uni education.

Before you spend good money on your 65% HSC grade children, think again. No >85% grade go down one step to Poly. Jiak leow bee degree holders tan boh jia.

Asians seem to place too much faith in a "University" education. In Spore it's especially bad where everyone has a few degrees

I remember talking to some young Canadians & many of them don't intend to go to University. They can get decent jobs with just a grade 12/13 education or a degree at one of their local polys. Over there whether you are a bus driver or policeman you will make a decent living. How decent a living:confused: Take a look at the following examples of wages of Canadians:

The asian society views education as a guarantee to a good future.. but u look at the situation in the job market and the amount of competition? Singaporeans are being forced through a rigid systems that does not teach life skills...
