I agree but this is way beyond any reasonable expectations. No govt can guarantee you a payrise and a good life. It's something you have to work hard for yourself and if you're not successful, the person responsible for the failure is YOURSELF.

These whinging, complaining, moaning idiots take everything they have for granted not realising that enjoy all the basic comforts of life thanks to the excellent work by the govt. They have electricity, running water, a roof over their heads, internet access, computer, smart phone... in short a life of absolute luxury by any standards.

These amenities aren't free. They cost a lot of money and they have to be PAID for and that is my point exactly.

Most Singaporeans are wealthy by world standards. The govt should be given due credit.

Indeed. They have those things in Africa too. Big deal? It's called "economies of scale", something wholly extraneous to those useless rent-seekers in government. No one denies that this small island, by virtue of its tax haven status, is richer than most countries in the world on a per capita basis in the same manner as other tax havens such as Monaco, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Bermuda, the Channel Islands, Andorra, San Marino etc. The contention is over how significant a role do governments play in the relative success of these small tax havens. All of them are richer per capita than Singapore. Who's their Lee Kuan Yew then? Where's their PAP?
