SINGAPORE - A student of Yuying Secondary School found with a vaping device was taken to hospital after he appeared to be behaving aggressively to a staff member.

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) is investigating the vape offence, according to the school’s principal Chong Jack Sheng.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, Mr Chong said on Aug 7 that the incident happened on July 31.

A student had exhibited aggressive behaviour towards a staff member of the school, and the police were contacted for assistance, Mr Chong said. He added that the student was then found to be in possession of an e-vaporiser.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at around 3.20pm on July 31, and had taken the student to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Mr Chong said the student is well and the school will continue to monitor his well-being.

“The safety of our staff and students is a key priority,” said Mr Chong.

“We take a comprehensive approach towards preventing and addressing vaping among students, including taking appropriate action for discipline and rehabilitation.”

In a video posted on social media on Aug 3, an SCDF ambulance can be seen in the school compound, which is located in Hougang.

The video has since been deleted, but recordings of the video are circulating on social media.

The authorities have been investigating a spate of incidents linked to the use of Kpods among teens. Kpods are vapes, or electronic cigarettes, that contain vape juice mixed with potent ingredients such as etomidate or ketamine.

The Straits Times has contacted HSA for more information.

Students substitute vape for smoking cigarettes because the smell doesn't stick to their hair, clothes and body. Harder for parents and teachers to detect.

For many years, we refused to act

Even NEA staff vapes.

After a video circulated on Aug. 5 alleging that a Yuying Secondary School student had to be taken to the hospital following the use of a vaping device, the school confirmed that they are aware of the incident.

In response to queries from Mothership, the principal Chong Jack Sheng said the incident took place on Jul. 31.

A student had exhibited aggressive behaviour towards a school staff and the police were contacted for assistance, he said.

The student was subsequently found to be in possession of a vaping device and was brought to the hospital in an ambulance for observation.

Currently, the student is well and the school will be monitoring his well-being.

The Health Sciences Authority is investigating the e-vaporiser-related offence, Chong added.

"The safety of our staff and students is a key priority. We take a comprehensive approach towards preventing and addressing vaping among students, including taking appropriate action for discipline and rehabilitation," he said.

Straight time reporting vapidemic like it was fentanyl.

Why is the PAP regime demonizing vapes so much? Make it seem as though they're worse than ayahuasca.

Come on, HSA and MOE, time to clean up the act. Do a stand by desk, unannounced. Those caught with vapes immediately raid their houses. :coffee::coffee::coffee:

Singapore will start classifying some substances used in vape pods as controlled drugs from next month, paving the way for stiffer penalties as the city-state steps up efforts to crack down on vaping.

Etomidate, a clinical agent used for inducing general anesthesia, and related compounds will be treated as Class C drugs for a period of six months, the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Home Affairs said at a briefing on Thursday. The government plans to have new legislation in early 2026.
