Independent, filter owned or franchise had been coexisting for so long till the white paper, getting double population, straining local resources, infrastructure & eventually high inflation on the demand of properties, rental, cost plus GST are killing the local scene. On the other hand, the Malacca state protecting Jonker & Penang ban infiltration on their good scene from aliens. Look at our Chinatown, it's taken over by big Chinese signboard, jhk coming in to Sg providing transport cheaply while sinkie PHV got to deal with expensive driving licences & car prices with $124K certificate. Where is the protection?

Must allow the new money to gain a foothold in SG industry eg FnB business mah - look very nice from far but ish actually far from nice

I am always amused by the sight of Tiong tourists sent by the busloads to Song Fa bak kut teh restaurants for lunch. :roflmao:

My Indonesian helper can cook BKT as good as Song Fak if not better. Just buy a packet of Jiuhu BKT ingredients from Sheng Siong and some good pork ribs from the market and boil the soup.

It's about paying protection money to the Tourism Board and tour agencies so they ferry busloads of tourists to visit your franchise restaurant. :cool:
