The continuous flow of letters to the forum page with many indicating that some kind of disaster, calamity or catastrophe had befallen the country. All that happened is that the PAP lost a GRC but they also gained an SMC - Potong Pasir. Sure they lost 2 cabinet ministers and a minister but lets get our perspective right.
PAP controls 81 seats out of 87 and continue to have the 2/3rds majority to change any and everything including the constitutions pretty much at will.
Let us not get carried away. It is the PAP policies that led to this level of resentment and concern about the party. A Singaporean's first concern is for himself and his family. Many have come to realise that a degree or even years of dedicated service is no match to cheap labour. Even one has a job, the future of holding to it is a daily worry. The young are unable to start a family as prices for homes have gone thru the roof.
Let us be frank and acknowledge that none of the opposition candidates or their parties offered anything better or were capable of carrying out anything that they suggested. They got the votes as a backlash for the less than pleasant policies impacting their young ones, the unfortunate or those who had the misfortune of being born a Singaporean in recent times.
The nausea of seeing all these letters is getting quite unbearable and rather painful.
