Pariah Israel has hit (excuse the pun) a new low: striking an ambulance in a convoy near the Al-Shifa Hospital and a school in Gaza City, in a blatant defiance of the Geneva Conventions.

Warning Israel and the US of a potential regional war, the leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah said fighting on the Israel-Lebanon frontier could escalate further and hinted his Iran-backed group was ready to confront US warships in the region.
Israel has vowed to wipe out Hamas, which rules the Palestinian Gaza Strip, after the militant group killed 1,400 people and took more than 240 others hostage in an Oct 7 assault in southern Israel.
The Israeli military has struck Gaza from the air, imposed a siege and launched a ground assault, stirring global alarm at humanitarian conditions in the enclave. Food is scarce, medical services are collapsing and Gaza health officials say more than 9,250 Palestinians have been killed.
Mr Ashraf al-Qidra, spokesperson for the health ministry in Gaza, said 15 people were killed and 60 wounded when Israel struck an ambulance that was part of a convoy at Gaza’s biggest hospital, al-Shifa.
Israel’s military said it had identified and hit an ambulance “being used by a Hamas terrorist cell” in the battle zone, and that a number of Hamas fighters were killed.
Hamas official Izzat El Reshiq said allegations its fighters were present were “baseless”. The military gave no evidence to support its assertion that the ambulance was linked to Hamas but said in a statement it intended to release additional information.
In a separate incident in Gaza City late on Friday, Gaza health officials said several Palestinians were killed and wounded in an Israeli strike on a school where hundreds of people were taking shelter.
Gaza health officials did not provide figures for the dead and injured. The Israeli military did not immediately provide comment on the incident.
In an evening briefing, Israeli military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that so far in the war Israel had killed 10 Hamas commanders responsible for planning the Oct. 7 attack.
“We killed and eliminated them and will continue to eliminate those who lead the combat against our troops, wherever they may be,” Mr Hagari said.
Israel said 25 Israeli soldiers have been killed in fighting in Gaza since the military’s ground operation was expanded a week ago.

Turkey said Saturday it was recalling its ambassador to Israel and breaking off contacts with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in protest at the bloodshed in Gaza.
Ankara announced the decisions on the eve of what promises to be a difficult visit to Turkey by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Palestinian ally Turkey had been mending torn relations with Israel until last month's start of the Israel-Hamas war.
Ankara hardened its tone against both Israel and its Western supporters -- particularly the United States -- as the fighting escalated and the death toll among Palestinian civilians soared.
The Turkish foreign ministry said ambassador Sakir Ozkan Torunlar was being recalled for consultations "in view of the unfolding humanitarian tragedy in Gaza caused by the continuing attacks by Israel against civilians, and Israel's refusal (to accept) a ceasefire".
Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Lior Haiat called the move "another step by the Turkish president that sides with the Hamas terrorist organisation".
But Hamas issued a statement hailing the decision and urging Turkey "to put pressure on President (Joe) Biden and his administration" so that "humanitarian and medical help can reach our besieged people in the Gaza Strip".
Israeli forces have encircled Gaza's largest city while trying to crush Hamas in retaliation for October 7 raids into Israel that officials say killed around 1,400 people -- mostly civilians -- and saw some 240 people taken hostage.
The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says around 9,500 people -- mostly women and children -- have since been killed in Israeli strikes and the intensifying ground campaign.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters that he held Netanyahu personally responsible for the growing civilian death toll in the Gaza Strip.

Yes. First, many US allies are either cutting diplomatic ties with Israel and/or voting for the UN resolution on a ceasefire. Second, domestically the US is facing massive protests across many cities nationwide against the Israeli atrocities and siege in Gaza.
The nub of the issue is that Israel's response is seen to been way overboard, revenge gone berserk. The numbers killed - 9,000 plus so far - and the humanitarian crisis and displacement wrought on civilians have placed the magnitude of Israel's war crimes on a much higher order than Hamas's.
The Biden admin and Blinken are now caught between a rock and a hard place.
