Ambassador, Waitkoff, prior to a meeting in Moscow, Trump announced plans for a meeting with Putin in Alaska, excluding EU and Ukrainian officials.
Given Trump's background as a businessman, it's possible that country's political issues could be resolved through commercially tactics.

The meeting location was changed from Juneau, the capital of Alaska, to a military compound in Anchorage due to logistical and security challenges. Zelensky lately suggested that Russia could retain Ukraine's land if he is allowed to attend the meeting. However, this proposal caused Trump to reconsider allowing Zelensky to attend, the above two statement suggest that the situation may be a setup.
