A terror suspect caught with bomb making chemicals, detonators and documents about Jihad told police he was trying to start an ‘explosives business’, a court heard.
Asad Bhatti, 47, is charged with five terrorism offences including possessing chemicals capable of making the explosive substance nitroglycerin.
He is also charged with possessing improvised detonators and documents making reference to jihad and combat in a storage unit and in his home in Surrey.
He was arrested after officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) raided his property in Redhill on January 8.
Bhatti allegedly told police the explosive material had ‘nothing to do with terrorism’.
He told police he was storing the chemicals to make an ‘explosives substances business’….
