2 protests at Govt House

Two protests were held outside Government House yesterday. Dairy farmers called for an increase in the price of raw milk, while lottery sellers with disabilities called for help to cut the overpricing of lottery tickets.
Some 600 dairy farmers, led by the president of Nong Pho Dairy Co-operatives in Ratchaburi, Somchai Damthamis, gathered at the fourth gate on Phitsanulok Road.
The farmers said dairy production costs had risen and the government must approve the milk board's July 29 resolution to add Bt1.31 per kilogram to the raw milk price - lifting it to Bt19.31 per kg - from October 1.
They also called for the government to speed up compensation payments to dairy farmers affected by the 2011 flood disaster and to add 19 provinces as dairy cow raising areas.
The farmers also want the Dairy Farming Promotion Organisation have the right to provide school milk for another three years, with input from the dairy farmers' organisation.
Meanwhile, some 100 blind lottery sellers called for help to solve the problem of lottery tickets being sold for Bt90 per ticket - when their printed price is only Bt80. Retailers had increased the ticket price, they said.
The ticket sellers said if their claims weren't resolved, they would rally outside the PM's house in Lat Phrao in Bangkok.
