Jalan Berseh shan Zhong bao turtle soup did change since the old man gone but I think his wife had done a relative good job retaining her husband recipe. I think she have difficulties and her son who used to help out when the old man was around is currently MIA. I suspect he a regular at changi resort as he once appear sporting a resort haircut.
There a turtle shop stall at hong lim market, same row with the outram ckt stall. Operate by an old man with two aunties. I won't say they very good but can provide your with a choice when u r in town. But they only operate at lunch period, ard 11am to maybe 3pm only on the second floor. I think there another stall on the first floor but I won't recommend it.

bro ykuser,
Today I went down to Jalan Bersar Food Centre to try turtle soup. There are 3 stalls selling turtle soup there and I picked Shan Zhong Bao based on this field report of your. Neibeh, soup tasted very terrible and meat like chewing rubber. -:(
Now I know why stinkees are ball less.
small food centre at junction of havelock rd/lower delta rd""
i think you refer to the L shape hawker with the carpark in the center.(very unique design)
it is still there today
anyone tried the turtle soup at havelock road?
happened to discover it today but they started washing up (at 2pm) so no chance to try it.
the rank of shan zhong bao at jalan bersah has drop again.their soup seem inconsistent sometime taste good.some time waste bland.now they got 1 china man to assit.
Certain meats taste bad or smells bad even when cooked. Thats when the herbs come in. It does not mean that the dish is healthy. We do that to fresh water fish as the smell is quite strong even after cooking - smell of the river bed.
You can tell when something is healthy after herbs when they taste good without herbs. Bak Ku Teh is a good example. Your body cools down and you feel much better.
For cooling, plain rice with fish soup would do just as well.
Used to go around Geylang looking for good turtle soup. Found a couple of stalls along the Lorongs 30-40 in the past, but quality changes very rapidly from good to bad so not worth mentioning. There used to be one at Lorong 40, you can add in additional herbs/herbal oils when the soup arrives if you feel it is not powerful enough. Used to eat one full bowl of the soup together with $5 omelette.
Now given up totally on turtle as can't find a good one that remains good for long.
Hmph
If drinking turtle soup u have to
Then dirty is your blood
where to find these in singapore?
bro ykh,
Now, which stall there would you strongly recommend?
