Turkey to Germany Flight: Muslim plane passenger invoked Sharia law to not sit next to woman, hit stewardess!

A plane passenger "invoked Sharia law" to avoid sitting next to a woman, then hit a flight attendant, according to German police.

The incident occurred on a flight from Turkey to Dusseldorf on June 1, and reportedly involved a 29-year-old Turkish migrant living in Germany, according to German newspaper Bild on Friday.

A German police spokesperson told the outlet, "According to initial witness statements, the man invoked Sharia law and refused to sit next to a woman," referring to the strict religious and moral code of Islam. ​

The passenger allegedly slapped the flight attendant when she spoke to him.

After the flight landed at Dusseldorf Airport, federal police were reportedly called to the plane.

The passenger confessed the crime to the police, but insulted the officers in Turkish. One of the officers spoke Turkish, resulting in the passenger being charged with insulting the officers, in addition to assaulting the flight attendant.

The criminal complaint has been forwarded from the Federal Police to the Dusseldorf Police, which is conducting the investigation.

Bild reported that the flight was Turkish Airlines, but a spokesperson told the New York Post on Friday that “the incident in question did not occur on a Turkish Airlines flight and is unrelated to Turkish Airlines.”
