Tan Jee Say is making use of the President Election to boost his personal profile to pave way for GE2016. It doesn't matter whether TJS win or lose this round. He have achieved his objectives. Now the whole Singapore remembers Tan Jee Say.

I have look at the permutations, and if brother scroobal is right about TJS and TCB holding secret talks, I think this will be the most ideal scenario:

Tan Kin Lian pull out on Nomination day, Tan Cheng Bock also pulls out, thus all the opposition votes will fall on TJS. That will become a 2-way fight and raise TJS's profile, although Tony Tan will still win the election.

But remember, the aim is to boost TJS's profile, and we may see a new strong political entity in GE 2016, headed by TJS, and PAP may have to form coalition with WP.
