I once read this good book about the history of the Japanese Royal Family. Hirohito was just a puppet manipulated by the hawkish Generals in his Government. Japan actually not really bankrupt. MacArthur in cahoots with the post war Japanese Government and their Zaibatsu conglomerates. In fact the investigative book that I read revealed the Japanese Government made billions of profits from the war and they stashed the money away with the knowledge and permission from MacArthur. And the Japs also kept most of their war conquest loot without returning them to the country of their origins. And the some members of the Royal Family were also involved in the looting of these treasures.
