bart workers are on strike. there are no rapid transit train services starting monday covering all bart stations from the peninsula to the east bay. all bart unions are asking for over 20% pay increases, more benefits and an overhaul of safety rules and systems. negotiations went on for days since last week between unions and management, and both sides failed to reach an agreement by midnight last night. duration of the strike is indefinite and may last days to weeks to months. meanwhile, 400,000 commuters and possibly tens of thousands more of travellers from SFO to city are stranded. alternative transport means such as ferries, buses, shuttles, vans, cabs, cars, bicycles and feet are recommended.

please appreciate the smrt system in sg. :D

update: bart service resumed yesterday at 3pm, and it will temporarily continue for 30 days while unions and management negotiate a new contract.

sfo is shut down and all flights are cancelled or diverted to other airports as a result of the crash landing of an asiana airlines aircraft.
