Ling Ting, the former "national moral model" who underwent sex-change surgery to become a woman, is taking part in a beauty contest in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province on Tuesday, Beijing Times reported.

Winning an award representing her butterfly-like transformation in the final contest, Liu said she wanted to learn and make friends from the event.

"Ever since my public appearance after the surgery in April, I've adapted to the new identity and I enjoy everything that comes with it," she said.
