This morning’s PAP Press, The Shit Times, declared on the PM’s behalf that voters of Punggol East must vote for the PAP if they support the PAP’s plan for Singapore. It used to be that when the PAP made such calls the electorate would reciprocate with a vote of confidence on its plans and policies. Not anymore. Today, such a call is taken with a pinch of salt, if not a spoonful.
In a simple and direct sentence, the PM is asking that you accept the government’s numerous failed and failing policies, policies which have never been challenged (AIM), policies which had disrupted and is continuing to disrupt the mundane and routine necessities, which in turn add to personal costs and expenses (SMRT breakdowns), policies that places non-elite children at a disadvantage (gifted child programmed), policies which discriminate against locals (foreign talent scheme) as well as policies which support its own businesses (NTUC) which placed itself in direct competition with small local businesses that engage in the same trade. Of course we must not fail to mention Temasek Holdings and the questionable deals they have procured which have lost us billions of dollars without an ounce of accountability.
Over the past year alone, the number of these failed policies have surfaced and have become so glaring that such a call by the PM to give support to its plans and policies only serves to convince voters and citizens that the PM had lost his grip on the situation at the ground.
Voters would therefore do well to rise up to the challenge the PM had posed to them: “Vote according to what you believe in. If you think we are doing a good job, vote for us. If you don’t think we are doing a good job, it’s your prerogative to decide who you want to give your trust to.”
And with that, he has just put paid to the poor doctor’s campaign; a campaign that is geared toward presenting himself as his own man. In the end, it is the larger good of the PAP which will count, and the poor doctor will have to stand in line and abide as one who wears white always does.
Who will you vote for now that the smoke screen created by the PAP in the past four days have been blown away by the Secretary General of the ruling regime? The decision is indeed yours, and “TRUST” is the key word, as emphasized by the PM.
