This morning (Apr 5), STOMPer chernhwee was one of the many commuters affected by the train fault that caused a delay from Dhoby Ghaut to Paya Lebar station along the circle line. The delay caused the large morning crowd to accumulate in the MRT stations and at bus stops.

The STOMPer wrote:

"The first picture I have attached was taken at Buona Vista.

"I saw a lot of people, so I went to the bus stop since I knew that there would be a delay and did not want to be so late for work.

"The second picture was taken at the bus stop. There were a lot of people.

"None of the staff came out to help us.

"Luckily, the SBS buses came frequently.

"Within 5 minutes, 1/3 of the crowd at the bus stop had left."

MRT doors couldn't open due to train fault near Marina Bay Circle Line station: SMRT

A STOMPer saw station staff apparently trying to open the doors of a train which was misaligned on April 3. SMRT has since responded, saying this was caused by a Circle Line train which encountered a train fault as it was entering Marina Bay station.

Wrote the SMRT spokesperson (Apr 5):

"On 3 April at around 6.55pm, a Circle Line train encountered a train fault and came to a stop while entering Marina Bay station.

"Our station staff was immediately activated to stand-by to drive the train manually into the platform.

"However, the Operations Control Centre was able to rectify the fault and move the train fully into the platform 5 minutes later.

"The train was subsequently withdrawn to the depot for checks."
