SINGAPORE – Train commuters on the Circle Line faced delays in their journeys on the evening of Dec 14, after a train stalled at Tai Seng MRT station.

The disruption started at around 6.20pm, with commuters informed via announcements in trains and stations, transport operator SMRT said in a Facebook post at 7.30pm.

They were also told to add 30 minutes to their travel time when travelling between the Serangoon and Promenade stations, with free regular bus service available in the 10-station stretch between these stops.

The stalled train was then attached to another train and brought to a depot.

Regular train service progressively resumed at around 7.10pm, with the operator saying at 7.28pm that it had stopped the free bus service.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to your evening commute,” SMRT said of the disruption.

In a 6.24pm post on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group, a user posted visuals of a train that is stopped at a station, with no lights on. Many people are seen on the station platform in one of the videos, with some men seen walking through a train carriage.

In November, SMRT said it had formed a working group to review the safety and reliability of its rail network, in the wake of a recent spate of service disruptions that afflicted the rail lines it runs.

These included one of the worst breakdownsto hit Singapore’s MRT system in its 37-year history – a six-day disruption on the East-West Line that affected more than 2.1 million passengers.

If the mrt does not break down, then something is very wrong. It's expected to, just like flooding, prcs and ceca invading us, ST reporting shit, traffic jams, expensive food, etc. They're all part of sinkie life.
