Toyota Prius

To be fair must compare the models with the same price point. In the old days it was much Simpler e.g. Honda Civice vs Toyota Corolla, Honda Prelude vs Toyota Camry.

Been a while since I had a car, so really lost when it comes to the current models:o

You are really lost. It's Honda Accord vs Toyota Camry.

Prelude is a coupe.

Honda by a mile.

Altis is a boring car. You could feel the vibration from the undercarriage as if you are inches away from the tarmac. Camry is better but feels like a moving water melon. A Nissan Teana will beat Camry hands down in terms of comfort.

If you are contemplating retirement in Thailand, why buy a Altis when you can flag one on the road for 35 baht ? Every taxi driver is driving a Altis.

Looking at a car to use for getting groceries & running errands. May also want to do some exploring. It will depend on where I finally decide to stay.

Initially was actually thinking of getting a motor bike but those things can be dangerous.

If you are thinking of living in Thailand, you need both car and bike.

Indeed its the Accord.

Such comparison still exist today for example:

1. Camry vs Accord vs Teana
2. Altis (Corolla) vs Civic vs Sylphy
3. Vios vs City vs Almera

Lower the rung there are many more models

Bike is for convenience like riding to and from market or 7Eleven seriously not recommended for long distance. Ok whatever it is when driving or riding in any foreign land its best to have a local license for insurance coverage, having an International Driving Permit is somewhat ambiguous in 3rd world countries.

There is a lot of room for improvement in battery technology - from smartphones, notebooks, hoverboards, and yes automobiles too. Let's watch as the Formula E series progresses. It will drive improvements in batteries too. Already major manufacurers are heading this direction bb producing electric-powered vehicles - Tesla, Harley-Davidson, to name a few, and of course - Honda!!! However Toyota might be taking another direction - Hydrogen Fuel Cell. Its anybody's guess what will the outcome be.

Cheers!

While not too sure about the Toyota hybrid, a colleague of mine bought a Honda hybrid a few years back, was told by the distributor that the battery could last at least 7 to 8 years. But he has to change it at year 5. The batt was pretty expensive I recall at almost 6 to 7 k. He was remarking that even with the money saved from the petrol, it's all gone with the replacement of the batt. After hearing it, wasn't not so sure about the potential savings. Maybe it could be different for a Toyota Prius.........

In small towns like Pattaya motorcycles are commonly used by the farangs. They are also often targeted by the police for "minor" traffic infringements. :)

Nowadays I also see some bicycles being used in Pattaya.

This battery I really like

If one can afford four-wheels, don't get the motorbike. Besides being exposed (to the weather as well), a car is really more practical - you can carry goods, and passengers, - you can't do so with a motorbike, especially if your passenger was an elderly/disabled person (say, one's 80 year old mom), can't bring your dog to the vet too on a motorbike. In a car, when it rains, you're sheltered (unless you drive one of those swanky convertibles), and in heavy traffic, just put on a good CD/cassette, sit back and relax. On a motorbike, you can't afford to relax. You have to remain sharp and alert - ALL the time!

Cheers!

It depends on where you live and where you intend to go. Parking is a huge problem for certain places. Like what Froggy said, a bike can be convenient for your frequent trips to convenience stalls and market food.

- okay, got fight.

Altis vs Civic vs Sylphy
- Civic by a mile.

Vios vs City vs Almera
- Almera should not be in contention because it's 1.2 eco. City should win hands down as what most Thais would tell you.
