It is time to open our eyes to see that the poor and needy do not need just more financial handouts — their worth as our fellow human beings need to be affirmed. We need to see the poor and the needy, the sick, elderly, and the dying, not as burdens to the society but as the opportunities for our nation to grow in compassion and to become a nation of leaders of love.

Our leaders will need to set the example by changing Parliament from a place to score political points to a space for dialogue and brainstorming creative solutions to the complex and complicated socioeconomic and moral issues of our multiracial, multireligious and multicultural society.

We need to develop a culture of leadership rather than a culture of blame. Only then can we see our social problems as challenges to grow in compassion instead of seeking scapegoats to blame. It has been said that it will take a miracle to change the mindsets of our people who have been brainwashed for so many years.

"Our leaders will need to set the example by changing Parliament from a place to score political points to a space for dialogue and brainstorming creative solutions to the complex and complicated socioeconomic and moral issues of our multiracial, multireligious and multicultural society" quote

Is this a real leader, if that is the level of leadership, how to you expect those who follow, to differ, it is what you vote is what you get. This is an archive of interesting quotes at at time, not so far away, say the year 2006 or 2007, in 2012, had anything changed, the proof is in the pudding..

>PM Lee said:
"Right now we have Low Thia Khiang, Chiam See Tong, Steve Chia. We can deal with them. Suppose you had 10, 15, 20 opposition members in Parliament. Instead of spending my time thinking what is the right policy for , I'm going to spend all my time thinking what is the right way to fix them, to buy my supporters votes, how can I solve this week's problem and forget about next year's challenges?
> quote

what have changed??
