Yahoo Singapore was probably scared of lawsuits from the Lees.

In fact, it may already have some pending lawsuits.

The only way to solve this is have the Constitution explicitly guaranteeing freedom of speech, and an independent judiciary which immediately throws out frivolous 'libel' lawsuits from the Lees.

That is not going to happen anytime soon.
