Tony Tan: Concerns of the people can be raised through 'appropriate channels'

PRESIDENTIAL hopeful Dr Tony Tan has weighed in on the debate on the president's roles, saying that while the President should not be a separate power centre, he can have influence.
In a blog entry posted on Wednesday on his campaign website, the former deputy prime minister said the President 'can, and should, address the concerns of Singaporeans', and take them into account when exercising his powers.

These concerns can be raised by the President to the Government formally or informally, through 'appropriate channels', and that the choice of channels for the President to pursue 'depends on the individual situation', he said.

He also said that the President must have a heart for Singaporeans, and know how to reflect their concerns effectively in national and international affairs.

All these talks are just tactics to get votes from the undecideds who are tempted to vote otherwise. Doesn't mean he believes it.

everyone noes the role / exact power of the president = that is to rubber stamp the decision of the cabinet.

however way you choose to dress the turkey does not matter.

Now that MIW know that everyone wants a talking president, he has to bluff a bit. Many a daft sinkie will for the trick though.

Do be prepared to know or hear someone is going to vote for a fascist Tony. One of them is a very old friend of my father (not a relative). Tsk ! Tsk ! This guy is disgusting because he is known for 'tripoding' (3 legs) people who are of high class or rich. This character is a selfish guy who often find himself quarreling with his whole family members (one wife and a son), and I bet his family members don't really like him. He's stupid too - conned once for fraudulent 'investment' in China (some lousy, condemned place that no one wants go to).

See, I told you, right ? These old folks who frequent CCs are not going to vote them off. So, are you doing to vote, SDP ?
