Today's S'pore school children: The Lost Generation

Bcos w the A levels they can have the option to enter NUS n b employed on Singkieland if they dont want to stay in ang mor land. They can also enter into ang mor unis w A levels. Also this family i know the kids are damn smart so ca tahan the pressure cooker. Ang mor schools r going down the dumps as they dont teach kids spelling and grammar and advise vs advice etc. And in ang mor unis the lecturers r complaining that undergrads dont have the basic skills to handle a deg. So kia su parents say ok do a levels n get the grounding. After all work overseas more easy,

I have not seen or heard of sinkies overseas sending their kids back to study in singapore. What would be the point of that?. If they are overseas and study hard, they can get into any number of local unis there at a subsidized rate or even on an easily obtained scholarship. Why bother coming back here for useless slogging and than have to compete with FTs on free scholarships? makes no sense to me.

the whole thing of naming the top schools and students is sickening.:oIo:

If top schools are not named, then where is the incentive for a school to excel?

The principals and teachers can simply coast along and spend their days drinking coffee in the staff room and your children will be the ones who lose out. Mediocrity will take hold and the country will go down the tubes.
