On June 30, Hong Kong citizens supported the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law on the streets of Causeway Bay. On the same day, the Twenty-Second Session of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress voted to pass the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Maintenance of National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" and decided to include the law in Annex III of the Hong Kong Basic Law, which will be promulgated and implemented locally by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. 港區國安法生效首日，截至晚上10時，警方拘捕約370人，當中10人涉嫌違反港區國安法，他們分別因被搜獲、展示、揮動印有「香港獨立」、「光復香港、時代革命」等字句的旗幟或標語。有人被搜出寫有「民族自強、香港獨立」的貼紙。警方已檢取有關物件作證物。
其餘被捕人士分別涉嫌非法集結、公眾地方行為不檢、瘋狂駕駛和管有攻擊性武器等。
警方表示，今日有7名警務人員分別被尖刀襲擊、電單車撞傷及被搶犯襲擊等，傷勢包括手臂被刺傷，手指骨折及頭部被硬物擊傷等，全部送院治理。
警方說，晚上10時，港島區市面已大致回復平靜，警方會繼續於多處巡邏及戒備。

大批市民下午在銅鑼灣及灣仔一帶聚集，入夜後，有人在波斯富街近羅素街一帶，用磚頭等設置路障，接近7時半，大批防暴警員及速龍小隊增援，在羅素街一帶制服至少5人，又包圍時代廣場，設立封鎖線，期間施放胡椒噴霧，有警員不適需沖洗眼睛。
數十名在封鎖線內的人被警員截查，並鎖上手扣及索帶，警方安排兩輛旅遊巴將他們帶走，亦一度進入時代廣場搜查。

As of 10 pm on the first day when the law came into effect, about 370 people were arrested by the police. Among them, 10 were suspected of violating the law. They were found holding, displaying and waving flags or slogans with the words "independence of Hong Kong", "recovery of Hong Kong, revolution of the times". Some stickers with the words "national self-improvement and Hong Kong Independence" were found. Police have seized the relevant objects as evidence 。
Other arrested persons were suspected of illegal assembly, disorderly conduct in public places, crazy driving and possession of offensive weapons.
Police said that seven police officers were attacked by sharp knives, motorcycles and robbers. The injuries included stabbing in the arm, fracture of fingers and head injury by hard objects. All of them were sent to hospital for treatment.
The police said that at 10 pm, the market on Hong Kong Island had generally returned to calm and the police would continue to patrol and keep on guard in various places.
