On 15 March 1962, President John F Kennedy gave an address to the US congress in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so, and the consumer movement now marks 15 March every year as a means of raising global awareness about consumer rights.

China marks 15 March in a very big way. The Chinese state broadcaster names and shames vendors, retailers, companies, etc. who have defrauded, cheated, Chinese consumers the preceding year. Apple, KFC and McDonald's had been targets of Chinese consumers in past years.

Sinkieland is famous for running national campaigns like "Keep Sinkapore clean", "Stop at Two", "No littering"....However on 15 March it's eerily silent on "World Consumer Rights Day". Why???

Question to you guys: What company/retailer/vendor will you name and shame today?

My #1 gripe is the public transport system, namely SMRT.

Consumer rights?

What's that? I tan lui more important lah!!!

Rights? You work, through your Blood, Sweat & Tears, every month contributing to a Fund, called Central Provident; to save for your retirement needs, a disable lawyer, tells you, you have no RIGHTS TO THAT MONEY & HAVE NO SAY EVEN.

Do we have a JFK here to put them in their places?? NO!..
