They say we should have more kids but parents have to spend $1000-2000 a month for each kids if you include the enrichment classes. A friend even spent $150 a session with basketball coach who promised to help his child enter a good school via DSA.

I used to spend up to $2K a month on tuition just for 1 of my 3 children. Thankfully, 2 of them are now young adults.

Just look at the high cost of living, particularly in relation to car ownership and housing here. The financial burdens associated with property ownership, marriage and starting a family as well as the perceived lack of a promising future for young S'poreans are creating mental health issues for them. This is why there is no way that S'pore is the 3rd happiest city in the world a according to the Institute for the Quality of Life's latest Happy City Index, unless only CECAs were interviewed.

S'pore's position as a trading and logistics hub makes it prone to trade-based money laundering, where over or under invoicing, fictitious trades or shipping fraud are used to launder money. The govt's strategy of inviting ultra wealthy foreigners to invest in S'pore and the lack of proper checks and balances by the opposition, make S'pore an attractive destination for money launderers.

In other words, the citizens of China, South Korea and Indonesia are better off than S'poreans. Looking at my relatives who own a landed home and 1-2 cars in Malaysia while working as PMEs, they also appear to be enjoying a higher standard of living compared to S'poreans.

My friend's 17 year old son is a content creator and does many side online businesses. He even dabbles in crypto and digital currencies. And he's making a few times more than his parents. He always tell his father why he needs to study so hard. Even a uni grad doesn't come anywhere close to his income.

The problem is with the influx of foreign labour for many decades. Without a STEM degree, the range I come across in most jobs are between $1K+ to $3K+. Unless you know some very niche market jobs please educate me. Relying on a sole main job is no longer viable and long gone.

Upward mobility seems firmly out of the reach for most degree holders these days. I hear my young subordinates sigh in resignation that they will be consigned to a HDB flat and reliance on public transport from cradle to grave.

As a low SES without STEM degree. I been looking at some niche "dirty" blue collared jobs recently with minimum foreigners influx. Looks inviting but my age is a hindrance. Mind you, I am originally from and still in white collared. I am considering fucking off from white collared for good. Just need to cumulate more Gs for skillfuture credit.

As for your Gen Z subordinates, as long as they're still in SG. They're FUCKED, period.

(1) Find a job & work first .. you need an income for survival never mind if it’s a low income job salary below $39k per annum .. work for a few years to gain the experience. Your time will come

(2) Always apply for bto if you intend to set up a family .. never ever buy a car or aim to buy a private condo cos these are for fools to show off their stupidity

(3) Dun anyhow spend like going on an expensive holiday

(4) Be frugal in your life .. you will & you can live a better happily life than other fools in this country

I beg to differ. The biggest betrayal is the system itself.

MOM = Levy (FWSB)
Insurance = WICA, FWSB
Business owners = "Compliant" employees
HDB, Private properties = More demand for rent, duty stamp and more

I rather they take their chances outside of SG once they accumulate enough experience. Not mentioning young men are working with a handicap (NS, reservist) compared to FTs and local women.
