The advertisement must be open to Singaporeans, comply with the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices, and run for at least 14 calendar days.

Small firms with 25 or fewer employees, and those jobs which pay a fixed monthly salary of S$12,000 and above, will be exempted from the advertising requirement for practical reasons, MOM said.

BIG LOOP HOLE ALL OF YOU DIDNT SPOT....

1) How many jobs are there that pays $12k above in current market?

2) $11,999 can siam MOM requirements to place ad with WDA.

3) Also, what about ads for other jobs below $12k?

The database should be for all FT jobs, regardless of pay, starting from for Q1, EP1 and EP2 passes.

This is clearly a useless wayang measure. They can bring in another 1 mllion FTs with jobs paying at $11,999 and below.

What's the hurry to increase the population blindly?

With the current global economic slowdown, we can cut down on the lists of 3rd world sources unis (eg: India, Myanmar and China, say top 20 only). However, say, Chinese and Indians from accredited US, UK and Australia can still be considered. Usually, these people are the better ones and well-off in their own countries and the better "talents".

I am a "foreigner" working in Singapore as a sales manager. My employers have been advertising for a local sales engineer, no experience needed, but requires access to vehicle, this has been changed. My assistant's preference is some Hokkien or local dialect ability, I am open. Over the last six months, we have NOT received ANY Singaporean applicants. Lots from India, Myanmar, PRC (graduated from local uni), Malaysia, and Philippines. But NO Singaporean applicants and I couldn't select any from the range we received. My boss, sick and tired of our undecided state of affairs put his foot down and selected a PRC applicant who was employed and into her second month now. That is the situation on the ground. We had to hire a foreigner because there were NO local candidates. Maybe we're paying too low, but again, there are people with the qualifications willing to accept the terms. Try working around this.

Maybe the pay you are offering is too low, further you require access to own vehicle.

a) Pinoys, Indians, PRCs - one whole dept or senior mgt full of them? Get one in and the whole village follows? Hello, fair employment?
b) Dependent passes - EPs are here to work (to augment us), why should grandma, grandpa and juniors come along? If they miss their family, why choose to work in a foreign country in the first place? What's next, their in-laws and whole kampong again?

Please give some of them the rotan or send them back home.

Why FT and PR are allowed to bring in their father, mother, grandmother, etc here? These family members then take up jobs at low pay. New policies must be put in place. No family members of PR, FT, etc allowed into sinkieland. FT are here to work, nothing else. When whole lot of family members are tricked to sinkieland, pressure is put on public housing, schools, hospitals, etc and sinkies suffer to pay taxes to support them. What a loser.
