Strange? Should the Minister really be telling the public when to buy or when not to buy property? Is tha t really his job? Surely not.
I can't imagine for example a CEO of SIA telling the public when to buy or when not to buy SIA shares...wouldn't that be deemed insider leakage of info?
Mah's job you would have thought is to make sure that supply meets demand based upon ALL statistics available for him to project the demand and take up rate of housing needed in the country . In so doing he would then ensure that there is a healthy growth of asset value without causing hyper-inflation in the property market and spill ove rinto high er cost of living, and/ or over speculative interest in the market place.
BUT to tell people "hey better wait - don't buy yet." is that really his job?

Reminds me of last time my CFO told us don't sell the company shares yet because still going up....and then the price crashed...

If yuo read the entire report of what MBT said, on the front portion he said to hold off buying as interest rates, supply.......etc., buyers likely can get at lower price.

However, towards the end of the report, he said something to effect govt will not act to reduce price as it will anger home buyers and that the crubs are to slow down the rate of price increase.

If my england is still ok, 'slow down the rate of price increase' does NOT reduce price from current level. It mean price still going up. That will mean those who hold off buying may be paying even higher price!

Did I mis-understood the brilliant miilion $ MIW or is he still confuse having just woke up from 4 yrs of hybernation?
