Tan Kin Lian points out the 'flaws' of rival candidates
Presidential candidate Tan Kin Lian spoke about the "flaws" of each of his rivals this morning.
Tan Kin Lian had gone on a walkabout this morning at Jurong East, then took the MRT to Tanjong Pagar. Shortly after, he spoke at a press conference and pointed out the "flaw" of each of his fellow candidates.
He did not name the candidates specifically, but his meaning was obvious.
Tan Kin Lian said one of the candidates is too close to the government, referring to Dr Tony Tan, who was a cabinet minister for more than 20 years. He went on to question if Dr Tony Tan is suitable to be president, and urged the electorate to choose a candidate independent from the government.
Tan Kin Lian goes on to refer to Tan Jee Say as a candidate who comes from the opposition and now hopes to check on the functions of the government. Tan Kin Lian continues by asking if someone who fights with the government most of the time should be president.
Tan Kin Lian finally says that he and Dr Tan Cheng Bock are the most neutral among all four candidates. But he adds that although Dr Tan Cheng Bock is a very good doctor, he has never taken part in the management of a company.
"Do you want a president who has no experience with finance to manage our reserves?", asked Tan Kin Lian.
