Not true. stationery shops are everywhere, very Popular. It is almost impossible now to find stationery shops in Singapore. Do u agree ?
These bookstores could have survived if they converted their businesses to tuition centres and maids agencies
last time go there beo RJC girls....their pleated skirt when wind blows...hor say.....Jelita is a nice place. Once upon a time it had Delifrance on the first floor. Today Delifrance has shifted to the second floor.
Also on the second floor, Times bookstore, a toy shop, a barber shop, Guardian pharmacy.
its more and more dificult to sustain....esp if they don't have an unique selling point. MPH, Times, Popular, Borders....Kinokuniya still standing..though their taka flagship has shrunk over the years.
