The Manchester United captain took a tumble in the club's 3-1 win over Preston North End, infuriating the current WWE Intercontinental title, who has challenged him to a match
Wayne Rooney could be the unlikeliest Wrestlemania star in history, after WWE Superstar Bad News Barrett challenged the Manchester United captain to a tag-team match alongside Kevin Davies and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Rooney earned a controversial penalty in the final moments of United’s 3-1 win over Preston in the FA Cup in midweek, sending Wade Barrett – a Preston fan – into a rage.
And the current WWE Intercontinental champion wasted little time in voicing his discontent on Twitter, writing: “How about that Wayne Rooney dive vs PNEFC? He won’t need to dive when I catch up with him.”
