First of all, I felt this law is naive and unnecessary from the beginning.
Chewing gums are sold in almost every countries, except sg.
What makes it so harmful to the society of sg, that it warrants a ban on sale
of chewing gums?
Well, the reason is that some people stick the gums onto the seams of the SMRT train,
causing the doors not to close properly, thus causing jam.
Is this reason ever justified? Was there ever a thorough investigation actioned on it before
the gums gets banned?
Well, I think the answer is no.
And this law is passed. How stupid can this be?
I mean chewing gums causing trains to be stalled?
Other countries also sells chewing gums, does their trains get stalled due to gums?
Come on. I feel these lawmakers need common sense and use their brain well.
Somemore, now that eating food and drinks are not allowed in trains.
Chewing gums are also food.
So it is really NECESSARY to BAN SALE OF CHEWING GUMS in this nation?
Don't your find this action really drastic and overdone?
Even the foreigners find this ban laughable and ridiculous.
I seriously feel it is time to review this law and lift the ban on the sale of chewing gums in sg!

If it has nothing to do with jammed MRT doors why do you they banned it. I am sure they have a million things to do than worry about chewing gums. Our politicians do no mix with the public and they dealing with stray gums is quite remote. Why do you think they went to all that trouble to raise paperwork to ban its import and sale.

Without chwing gums the SMRT became a cock-up system. So its not chewing gum

In other countries the trains do not stall as they are fully financed by the government as a service provider and not some entity that make money for share-holders.

Our leaders are brainless - devoid of any good ideas to ensure a smooth system

Everyone, not only foreigners but we locals are laughing aloud.

I was never sure why this law got passed in the first place. Its probably in the same vine as oral sex encourages homosexuality.
