STOMPer LY was approached by an old man at Junction 8 who claimed to be a "civil servant" and asked her for money to take the train to work on Saturday (May 21).

The STOMPer noted that he went around asking other passers-by for more money after that.

Said the STOMPer:

"It happened at Bishan, both inside and outside Junction 8 on Saturday, 21 May at 11.30am.

"This neat old man approached me outside a shop at Junction 8.

"He said, 'Miss, I only have 90cents with me. I lost my senior citizen EZ-Link card. I'm a civil servant (he then showed me his 'government service' pass) and I need another dollar to take the MRT to work. Can you give me one dollar?'

"I told him I didn't bring my wallet. He walked on, asking for money from others with the same tactic. I pointed out to him that the MRT station was over at the other side.

"He was walking towards the CPF building. He replied that he knew and needed to go to the CPF building to check something and top up the amount in his account to a certain number.

"He repeated the same tactics outside the CPF building without stepping in. Later, he walked back to the interchange. He noticed me and disappeared... "
