You cannot use a fire extinhuisher of water to put out the battery fires. Only way is to cover it with a high temperature resistant covering to prevent fire from spreading. You must let the battery burn itself out as its not oxygen dependent.
Weitd a factory such as this is not equipped with such cover.and workers not trained to deal with battery fires.
