SINGAPORE - A 54-year-old lorry driver was caught trying to bribe a traffic police officer for not wearing his seatbelt.

However, the officer, Corporal (Cpl) Roslan Bin Abdul Rasip, rejected the bribe.

On August 10, a lorry was pulled over along the Pan Island Expressway when Cpl Roslan spotted that the driver did not have his seatbelt strapped.

When Cpl Roslan explained to him that it was an offence not to put on a seatbelt while driving, the driver pleaded with the officer and offered him $50.

Instead of getting off the hook, the officer arrested the driver for bribery.

This is the third time Cpl Roslan had rejected bribes.

Commander of Traffic Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police Cheang Keng Keong, commended the officer, saying: "Cpl Roslan displayed impeccable integrity by remaining steadfast in his calling and not giving in to any temptation. He is a pride to the Singapore Police Force and an example to his fellow colleagues."

They usually collect from the bushes some distance from the offence, pretending to watch the traffic, then bend down retrive. Maybe the lorry driver don't know the protocol.:D

Coporal Roslan, if he was from the Malaysian Traffic Police, would have been blanket-partied by his colleagues and shoved off the roof and would be found to have committed suicide due to depression.

Hahaha...yeah!

its not a bribe, its our money. >:(

Government packages are not bribes for votes. To say that or think that, is the same as thinking that government subsidies are bribes for votes. Even opposition parties stopped short of claiming that, they'd stop at accusing government timing the better packages closer to elections to leverage popularity and cushion unpopularity. Any party in power would have done that too.
