I agree. As it is, LHL is already not that popular. Is he so detached that he thinks he can bully a citizen? How many screw ups can a PM make before people totally give up on you? He has dug a hole for himself and I can't see him climbing out of it unscathed. His latest mis-step might just cause his beloved daddy to finally up the lorry.

Indeed, he (or his lawyer) has made three fundamental blunders in this episode.

First mistake was to sue someone not in politics for defamation. If he has to keep doing this, either he will be seen as spending all his time suing his own citizens or simply as a bully who prevents others from speaking unfavourably of him.

Second mistake was to ask the other party to state the amount of damages. If you yourself do not know how much damage you have suffered, how would the other party know? Especially in intangible things like reputation.

Third mistake was rejecting the proposed amount and repeating the second mistake. The other party has already offered you a sum of money as a peace offering and you should either accept it or provide the sum you are expecting. Whether or not the amount is insignificant depends on the situation of the other party, not your own circumstances. There was a story about Buddha stating that the old woman who used her entire measly savings to buy an offering for him is more sincere than the lavish offerings provided by the wealthy who can easily afford those.

These three mistakes show that he is unfit to be the leader of SG. He is now seen to be petty, stupid and greedy.

His second mistake could have turned out to be a winner and resolve his first blunder if Gay Loong knew HOW to correct his mistakes made.

In asking the other party to name the amount, many would construde that he is so maganmious, that knowingly the other party is just a commoner with little money if any, he was prepared to let the other party state the dollar value the defendent was comfortable with. Roy gave a figure, a figure of $5000 a figure that speaks not only of his sincerity but also reflected well that the figure wasn't easy on his pocket given his means. And had the Gaylord accepted this he could also have in kind gesture ask Roy to reciprocate in removing the 4 blog posts and vid without making it a demand. Which I am sure Roy would have done so willingly.Win-Win. Gaylord wins on both counts.
Case closed. Reputation restored. Votes percentage go up.


Then the Gaylord not only reject this outright but became more petty and went on a witch hunt for 4 more blog posts and vid to be removed. Posts that wasn't even an issue months ago.

All points to a man ( is he a man?) on a path of vengence and out for blood, given his status that he so claimed that cannot be befitted to a man of such status.

Mine oh mine what a blunder and PR disaster. Pinky Loong destroyed his own reputation way before he intended to fight it out in Court to protect it!

Even before the Roy incident, I'm amazed that anyone would support Lee Hsien Loong. He's hands down the worst PM Singapore has had the misfortune of being run by. Look around you: everything is falling apart, too many foreigners and much overcrowding, skyrocketing cost of living. Corruption and dishonesty rampant in the public sector.

Even on the front of diplomacy and international relations, he has been annoying many countries.

In this case, the assertion is that gay loong personally stole CPF money. Nobody believes this. People can see their CPF balance and they know the money is still there and has not be stolen. So, what damaged reputation has gay loong suffered? None. hence he cannot prove damages and he asked Roy to name his own damage. That's legally unprecedented as far as I know.

Is the parallel wrong ? CHC buys bonds from company X knowing company X uses the funds to invest. CPF buys bonds from SG Government and Government uses funds to invest. Of course whether company X and CHC have a legitimate business arrangement or not, given that CHC is a charity, is a matter before the courts. There is no question that what the CPF is doing is perfectly legal. But they are both using the same mechanism. Frankly I don't see what the fuss is. I have not read Roy's post. But if he is saying that CPF members are entitled to higher returns, he is not the only one.
Actually, there is a difference, I haven't seen an outpouring of CHC members complaining they have been shortchanged. Most say , "well we gave you the money to do as you see fit". Funny right ?
