Here at Health, we're all about covering the latest news on orgasms—like how to have them regularly, how to make them more intense, and why they don't just feel good but can boost your health and relationship too.

So we were thrilled to come across Lelo's Orgasm Day 2017 Survey. The folks at Lelo, the sex toy retailer, did the hard work of polling 2,200 people across 21 countries about their big Os, asking questions such as how often they reach the pleasure peak, the position that makes it easiest to do so, and how loud they are when they pass the finish line.

Lelo crunched the numbers and released a list this week that ranked the countries where people orgasm the most and most intensely, as well as nations where citizens might want to amp up the bedroom action and increase their weekly orgasm count. (Fellow Americans, we're looking at you.). Here's what the survey found.

Norwegians have the most orgasms
Norway's chilly temps must be inspiring residents to create heat between the sheets, because 35% of Norwegian respondents said they have the big O at least once a day. People from Chile, Italy, and Spain have the most intense Os

Brazilians orgasm loud and proud
Residents of Brazil are more likely to wake the neighbors after a an orgasm than people in any other country, as 65% of Brazilian respondents described themselves as screamers, stated the survey. Norway came in second, with 39.9% of those polled 'fessing up to not being quiet during climax.

Canadians should orgasm more
While just 15% of our neighbors to the north say they've never experienced an orgasm, another 15% rated their orgasm intensity a paltry one on a scale of 1 to 10. Never had an orgasm? Here's what Health's resident doc says about your inability to climax.

Americans have work to do
Chileans, Italians, and Spaniards may be most satisfied with their orgasms, but 28% of U.S. respondents rated their Big O satisfaction a 7. Here's hoping we can all work together to make America great again when it comes to climaxing.

Did you take part in our Orgasm Day 2017 survey? We had over 2,200 respondents from 21 different countries share their most intimate secrets with us, and the results were surprising, even by our slightly jaded standards. Here’s a selection of the findings about our global orgasmic habits, just in time for World Orgasm Day on July 31st!

WHICH COUNTRY CLIMAXES THE MOST, AND THE LEAST?
Norwegians have the most orgasms, with 35% of Norwegian respondents claiming they climax at least once a day. That’s a lot of pining for the fjords.

But if you thought multiple orgasms were normal in Northern Europe, apparently not, because 2.54% of Germans reported never having had an orgasm at all – the highest number of all 21 countries.

TAKEAWAY: the global average rate of climax is 2-3 per week. In Brazil, 30% of respondents only orgasm once a week, but as you’ll see below, they really make it count…

WHICH COUNTRY COMES THE HARDEST?

Maybe there’s just something about those Romance languages, as the three countries reporting the most intense orgasms are Chile, Italy and Spain. 10-13% of this unlikely threesome all rated the power of their orgasms within the highest percentile.

The country least likely to report an intense orgasm was Australia, in which 2% of respondents rated their orgasmic intensity at just 1 out of 10. That might sound much, but it was far higher than any other nation – interesting, as Australia ranked 3rd in frequency of orgasms.

TAKEAWAY: Does the intensity of your orgasm decrease with the more you have?

WHICH COUNTRY ORGASMS LOUDEST?
If you’re wondering which country graduated cum laude, Brazil is by FAR and away the noisiest nation in bed. 65% of Brazilian respondents claimed to be screamers – compare that with the nation in 2nd place, Norway (again), with 39.9%. Brazil is almost noisier than rest of the world put together. And yet, we can’t say we’re all that surprised.

The Portuguese are the most modest climaxers, with 42% claiming they are usually quiet. The Dutch are next. But most nations responded by saying that they were “sometimes” loud at orgasm.

TAKEAWAY: there is absolutely no relation between the amount of noise you make at orgasm, and the intensity of the orgasm you’re experiencing. Sex noise seems to be cultural.

MORE FINDINGS:

• UK – 11% of Britons have at least one orgasm a day.
• US – the majority of American respondents, 28%, rated their orgasm intensity at a meager 7 out of 10.
• Croatia – Croatians are the third loudest climaxers, with over a third (37.5%) saying they have noisy orgasms.
• Sweden – 41% of Swedes orgasm 2-3 times per week.
• Australia – Australians are amongst the quietest climaxers, with over a third (34.78% saying they’re usually quiet.
• France – 10% of French respondents say they’re only noisy with a partner.
• Canada – 15% of Canadians have never experienced an orgasm, the exact same percentage who rate the intensity of their orgasm at 1 out of 10.

The results of this survey seem to throw all stereotypes out the bedroom window and defy all preconceptions. Who’d have thought that a third of the population of Norway have at least one orgasm every day? And who’d have predicted the Brits would be such headboard-rattlers, with 53% – the highest in the category – saying their orgasms were sometimes loud? And perhaps most surprisingly, isn’t it strange that the US doesn’t seem to stand out in any extreme, remaining in the middle of most of the groups throughout the results? Time to throw out those old clichés.
